Scientific Spin on Spirit's Source

For you pure rationalists out there who rely on science to inform your worldview, well, I have something to say to you. For you atheists who declare your nonbelief in your own unique brand of cool intellectual indifference, here's a little something to put in your pipe.

Back in the 1920s, a physicist, actually a quantum mechanics physicist, Werner Heisenberg, discovered - in simple laymen's terms - that nothing in our universe can be observed and not be effected by that act of observation. If, for example, I were to watch a firefly alight on a leaf, the firefly would feel my watchful gaze - and most likely depart for another leaf. The act of observation apparently effects that which is being observed which would indicate that there is something emanating from the observer that is impacting the observed which is causing a change. So, what is that something?

Larry Dossey, MD, also a scientist rather than a mystical sensitive, sought to do some experimentation on this also in the 1980s. He discovered that the power of prayer actually has effects. It's not just magic, wishful thinking, it has real measurable outcomes.

One of his experiments involved a plant. He planted a seed in two pots, put them each in separate windows, with exactly the same amount of sunshine, same degree of facing the sun. He gathered a small group of people together to "pray" for one of the plants. They were to sit and visualize the plant's growth, send love to it. They did that for X number of hours and days. Soon, the plant began to grow, leaves began to sprout. The same thing happened to the other plant that was not being prayed for. But, here's the difference. The plant that was being prayed for grew quicker, was far more leafy, larger and considerably healthier. The only difference in the little experiment was the human factor. The humans had sent to the plant something - something more than just an idea. Their intentionally focused energy apparently is like a Star Wars light beam. Consiousness, intentionality has a real, measurable power.

Now, we can talk light years about how to increase the vibration of our focused intentional conscious energetic emissions, but suffice it to say that it does indeed exist. We might call it spirit, love, light, healing, creative power stemming from a greater source of power that is not only in us, but is in all of life. The thing that's interesting is that spirit-light-love energy is creative but it is benign in its good/badness. I mean there's no judgment on it. If you want to use it to heal and create, you can. If you want to use it to destroy, hurt, oppress, diminish, you can do that also. However, I think - and this is just my opinion - that since the universe runs on the power of creation, the power to create would generate a higher voltage with a more long-lasting effect and stronger magnetism. The basic idea here is that when we are connected to our own internal source of light - as in plugging in your computer - and voila! you have power - which we have always called "God" and now I'm more likely to call universal life force energy - because I now believe that which we call God is the creator of that life force, and is a conscious intelligent Being, or the ultimate Being, from which that creative power stems, but is not limited to it.

So, now, science has proven that prayer (focused intentional thought) is real. And, perhaps, is begining to realize the power in spirituality. It is measurable and scientists like to be able to measure things. Now, here's where human "will" enters the picture. What do we want to create? Do we want to create peace, then we will focus our minds on peace. If we want to end poverty, wouldn't we send thoughts of prosperity to those tired and poor places on our planet, rather than focus on the poverty, on the disease, on the horrible circumstances in which our dear brothers and sisters live. Rather than look at it, and declare its presence, perhaps we could send thoughts of prosperity to it. We could invite prosperity into our lives, rather than poverty, and invite prosperity into every slum and ghetto in the country and the world. We can also ask the Creative Source of life, through our invitation and focused "intentionality" to enter those places to lift them up, to be brightened, healed and brought into abundance.

Just a thought. As I write this to you this morning, I am sending all of you love. As you receive it, you build a bridge that allows it to flow. Reception, opens the flow. Non-reception dams it up. So, I am sending you my love - I know many of you personally - and please receive it, if only by considering with an open mind some of what I write here, and let's watch the power of that energy increase!!! Then, let's all visualize prosperiity in Haiti, Buffalo, Detroit, Chicago and everywhere. Let's all join together to be mega magnets for life.
